The Ashram Iceland
July
Iceland is currently one of the most intriguing and sought after destinations for adventurers and nature lovers the world over.
Located between Scandinavia and Greenland in the North Atlantic ocean, Iceland is famous for its natural wonders and unique egalitarian culture. The island is known for the most amazing glaciers, volcanoes, waterfalls and geysers. Its striking mountains and rich green landscapes beckon you to explore deeper into its pristine wonderland.
The Ashram Iceland is located on the eastern side of the island, far and away from most of the tourists and typical sightseeing destinations. Come join us for a unique adventure and discover the beauty of this island!
Iceland Program Overview
Guests can expect a similar structure and schedule to the The Ashram California with the addition of unique Icelandic elements. The program is limited to 13 guests per week.
Eastern Iceland is known to be warmer and sunnier than the weather near Reykjavik. It is remote and stunning.
Mornings will begin with yoga to energize and prepare the body and soul for invigorating daily activities. Lush volcanic mountains, deep green valleys and canyons will host the trails for our amazing hikes that begin at sea level and can rise up to 3000 ft in elevation. We will visit waterfalls and hot springs and you will have a sense that it is simply you and nature in this pristine, rugged and beautiful land. The mountains inspire myths of giants, trolls and faeries and you will see why!
Trails of Iceland
Eastern Iceland offers some of the most awe-inspiring hiking on earth. Trails climb from ocean’s edge to sky-high summits, winding through volcanic slopes, sweeping valleys, and untouched wilderness. Along the way, you’ll pass cascading waterfalls, steaming geothermal pools, streams so pure you can drink straight from them, and cliffs where puffins nest in the summer. A highlight is the famed Stórurð—“Giant Boulders”—a spectacular hike where turquoise pools glisten beside mossy meadows, boulder fields sprawl beneath rugged peaks, and every view feels like a storybook scene. Shaped by fire, ice, and time, these mountains hold a beauty that feels timeless and mythical.
Healthy Fare
In the spirit and essence of the traditional Ashram program, guests will enjoy cuisine that is both wholesome and delicious, thoughtfully prepared with an Icelandic twist. Our site is located beside Eastern Iceland’s largest organic farm, providing us with freshly harvested fruits and vegetables. Iceland is also home to some of the purest water on earth, and our menus feature freshly caught local fish. For those who prefer a plant-based approach, fresh vegetarian options will always be available. Throughout the week, authentic Icelandic recipes are woven into each meal, designed to both delight the palate and deeply nourish the body.
Lodging
You will be staying at a beautiful family lodge located in the gorgeous valley of Breiddalur in far eastern Iceland near the city of Egilsstadir. Stunning and breathtaking views from all around the property create a sense of openness and possibility in every direction. Once used as a farm, Silfurberg is now a summer retreat hotel and winter hunting lodge with a style of Scandinavian minimalist-luxury. Double occupancy and single room options are available, most with en-suite bathrooms. The property feels cozy and inviting while retaining the warmth of a family farm. Two hot tubs and saunas on site are there to help relax and rejuvenate the body and mind after challenging and rewarding days in the outdoors.
